Out of more than a quarter of a million FCCLA Members nationwide, she was chosen to make history. Her leadership, service, and unstoppable commitment to others have left a mark on her chapter, her community, and the entire FCCLA family.
As part of the selection process, Elizabeth submitted a comprehensive application which was evaluated using an in-depth rubric.
This award comes with an addition $2,000 prize from the US Army.
Maggie and Elizabeth filled out an extensive application documenting their demonstration of core values and their contributions to FCCLA since August of 2023. This application included a written essay demonstrating significant roles, impactful projects, or meaningful changes in their chapter, school, or community; a video essay communicating their values, character, and commitment to FCCLA’s mission effectively; notable achievements, awards, and honors; and three letters of recommendations.
After being recognized as the top 15 semi-finalist, Maggie and Elizabeth participated in semi-finalist interviews, which provided an opportunity to expand on their applications and allow evaluators to ask additional questions. As semi-finalists, they wee each awarded $1,000 from the US Army.
Following the interviews, the top five finalists were announced publicly and recognized on stage at the National Leadership Conference. During the general session at the National Leadership Conference, the FCCLA Member of the Year was announced live.
